Dutch Grand Prix Practice 3 Round-up
Final Practice ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix with qualifying coming next and it was Lando Norris who stormed to the top of the times yet again like practice 1 and 2 but this time, absolutely smashing his 2024 pole time by 6 tenths with a 1.08.972 just shy of 2 and a half tenths clear of championship rival and teammate Piastri who finished off the McLaren 1-2.
George Russell again best of the rest, slotting into P3 and almost 9 tenths of the phenomenal McLaren pace. Silver Arrows teammate, Kimi Antonelli was suffering with technical issues. His downshift paddle giving him troubles and taking him out of the session for a short while. He was also blocked on his last soft flying lap of the session by Lance Stroll and Yuki Tsunoda at the line, forcing him to back off and ruining his run and staying P17.
Max Verstappen again off the pace, suffering with understeer in the RB21 and felt like he was hampered by Alpine driver Pierre Gasly who may have slightly come onto the racing line but it was hard to see the direct impact to Max resulted in him backing off and securing P5 whilst teammate Tsunoda says he was hampered by sister team, Racing Bulls on his lap. P12 for the Japanese international.
Both Ferrari's had bad Friday's and seemed to be chasing to catch up P6 and P14 for the pair with Lewis Hamilton having more issues again running out of bounds on the high run on the banking in turn 3. He later tried again but couldn't better his efforts.
Williams seemed to improve after a bad FP2 and found themselves P4 and P7. Much better than p16 and P17 yesterday afternoon. However, they were still 1 second off the MCL39, showing the pace of the top but also how tight the midfield is.
Alpine were at the wrong end of the timings in FP3 with a hairy moment near the end of the session Colapinto veering onto the racing line through the last turn, making Gasly back out of his fast lap and throwing a hand out of the cockpit.
Fernando Alonso and George Russell had a dicey moment going into the pit lane, Fernando deciding to dive in, aborting his soft tyre run and diving into the pits but was cut off by Russell as he slowly made his way from the racing line into the pitlane, the 2 almost clashing and Alonso locking up as he slammed the brakes. "They don't look in their mirrors mate" Alonso said. P10 for him and P8 for his teammate Stroll.
