Dutch Grand Prix Qualifying Round-up
After that it was all to play for and the slenderest of margins could make the difference Bortoleto sneaked into P10, then taken away by Gasly before Sainz put in a great effort to make the top 10, being joined by both Racing Bulls - an amazing effort from the youngest duo on the grid and the oldest man on the grid, Fernando Alonso who put in a lap right at the end, good enough for P7 unfortunately knocking down Antonelli to P11 after looking for a better quali session found himself out of Q2 with a "little mistake in the chicane" he explained to the media after Q2. He was followed by Tsunoda - another Q2 knockout as well, Bortoleto, Gasly and Albon. From 10th to 15th was 2 tenths of a second showing how close the midfield is at the end of these regulations.
Q3 started off competitive with Norris and Piastri going toe-to-toe, both looking for provisional pole and Piastri took the better of Norris on this occasion which was surprising as it seemed Norris had the better of Piastri all weekend up until this point. The gap was 0.012 between the papaya pair. Verstappen slotted in to P3 and Russell a little further back time wise in P4.
Neither McLaren improved on their last run in Q3 which could have been caused by a wind change that could have made it more tricky to find time. Verstappen with a purple middle sector secured P3, 2 and a half tenths off the inevitable McLaren pace. Isack Hadjar had a statement of a result in P4, beating out Russell with his teammate Lawson in P8 too. Ferrari in P6 and P7 headed by Leclerc this time with a good quali for Sainz in P9 and Alonso finishing out the top 10.
Oscar Piastri takes his 5th pole of the season. A really needed result for him as Lando has had the edge over him in the last 3 races.
