Briatore gives update on the second Alpine seat

Flavio Briatore has been talking about the second seat, beside Gasly at Alpine saying they are just getting the final 10 percent ready in their team for 2026 and when questioned if that included the second seat he confirmed that to be true.

At the moment, Briatore will make a final decision on Alpine's 2026 driver line-up by late October, around the time of the Mexican Grand Prix.

Alpine have had an up and down year but unfortunately sit 10th and last in the constructers standings. They started 2025 with rookie Jack Doohan, who was then replaced after 5 races by Franco Colapinto who was also suspected to be on a 5 race contract but has kept his seat till the present day. Pierre Gasly also has given his services to Alpine until the end of 2028, signing a new contract with the team back on the Saturday at the Italian Grand Prix.

Colapinto was bought from Williams on a 5 year contract but has had a really underwhelming 2025 season, scoring 0 points, being dead last in the standings with Doohan and being involved in drama on the race track even with his own teammate back in Zandvoort in the race.

Until we reach October, Colapinto we continue to be evaluated by the team and Briatore and from there, a decision will be made.
