Key Ferrari figures set to leave to Audi

Ferrari's key engineers are understood to be leaving the team to join Audi in 2026.

Wolf Zimmermann, project leader for Ferrari's 2026 power unit will depart the team, once the development has been completed.

Lars Schmidt, the former Lead Engineer for the performance development of the team, is also understood to be leaving the team.

The poaching of these big household names come from Mattia Binotto's experience at Ferrari. He left the team at the end of 2022 and will become head of the Audi F1 project at the start of 2026

Mercedes are also perusing Enes Tas, an aerodynamicist with a specialization in cooling and more than 10 years of experience at Maranello. James Allison and Simone Resta aim to strengthen the staff for 2026 too.
