Carlos Sainz faces penalty for collision with Antonelli in Texas

During the United States Grand Prix on lap 4, Carlos Sainz attempted to make move on Kimi Antonelli, going down the inside of turn 15 but getting the move completely wrong and due to the racing guidelines, the corner was not his and consequently collected Antonelli in the process.

He locked up and was far too tight to the corner and as Antonelli took the racing line and naturally came across the Williams they touched and the Italian was sent spinning around and touched the barrier.

Sainz's suspension was damaged enough for him to pull over and retire just before the pit lane. Antonelli managed to continue on and recovered from P18 to P13 at the chequered flag.

As a result of the incident, the FIA deemed full responsibility on Sainz and the Spaniard received a 5 place grid penalty for the next race in Mexico on the 26th of October and 2 penalty points added to his super licence which leaves him on 4/12 before he gets a race ban but seemingly unlikely at this stage in the season.
