It has been made official today by Formula 2 themselves that Colton Herta has signed a deal with Hitech racing to drive for them next season.
The 25 year old, with hopes to get to Formula 1 some time in the future, now joins the Formula categories for 2026 over from Indycar.
Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 CEO and team part-owner Toto Wolff has been spotted in Sardinia on his yacht with 4x World Drivers Champion Max Verstappen as tensions begin to rise over the future of the Mercedes driver line-up with lots of rumours spreading about where current driver George Russell sits in this conversation. Here we can see the two having 'a laugh together' on the yacht. Verstappen mentioned at the pre weekend interviews at the Hungarian Grand Prix tha t "you can have a personal relationship with someone even if you don't have a working relationship with someone." and "If his boat is next to Toto's then it's next to Toto's." Regardless of his comments the two were spotted together. Max saying he is staying with Redbull Racing for 2026 but could a move on the table be there for 2027? Previous information has signified that the length of the contract is the main issue for Russell. He may want a multi year contract but Mercedes CEO, Toto Wolff may only be willing to present a 1 year deal due to the possibility of the availability of Max Verstappen in the coming time. Toto Wolff has constantly expressed his interest in the 4x World Champion while also still praising his current driver so the conflict of interest here does not sit right with many. Russell has arguably been in the top 2 best drivers this season with Max and wants to stay at Mercedes so why would Toto move away from him? Max Verstappen of course comes with a lot of benefits like always maximizing what the car can offer and 'The Max Factor' many internally have exclaimed. Bu...
