Formula 1 driver market and teams update
A lot has happened since the Singapore Grand Prix in terms of driver movement and rumours surrounding the future for many.
Charles Leclerc has committed his future to Ferrari for at least 2026. However it is understood that conversations are taking place elsewhere on the grid from his representatives. Leclercs manager has spoken about the importance of Ferrari delivering a winning car next season.
Simultaneously, there has been great rumour and word spread from Oscar Piastris manager , Mark Webber, who has spoke about a potential move to Ferrari for the Aussie. Some statement words he said was "in the meantime he should improve his Italian" after talking about "completing his full potential at McLaren" - (talking about the Driver World Championship). This could also be apparent if McLaren are not competitive enough in 2026 and a move (like Leclerc) could be on the table in 2027.
George Russell is still not happy with his terms in the contract proposed by Toto Wolff and the Mercedes team but talks still continue non the less with Wolff confirming once again after Singapore that the driver lineup will remain the same for next season.
Redbull have emerged concerns about next seasons car. Laurent Mekies has not sugar coated the situation either. Redbull have fully committed to this season in sacrifice of next, fully believing that Verstappen can clinch the Drivers World Title. They thoroughly believe that this car is still worth upgrading, bringing 2 upgrades last race and still more to come in the coming rounds.
Franco Colapintos position at Alpine has actually improved in recent weeks, the Argentine doing a better job against Gasly, out qualifying him on 4 out of the last 5 races.
Aston Martin have turned down Horners approaches to join the British outfit. Horner has been approaching multiple teams recently about potential opportunities. Perhaps Aston turned him down in the future hope of getting Verstappens services. His camp not liking Horner limits that to some degree.
Finally, Max Verstappen has given his thought on the future, indicating that Mercedes will be "at the front next season". This may have an impact on his future in the sport.
